Hope.

Photo and text by me, thank you.

Hope. A short and simple word containing four letters. When pronounced aloud, it gives the speaker and the lister what it means: hope.

hope |həʊp|
noun [ mass noun ]
1 a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen: he looked through her belongings in the hope of coming across some information | [ count noun ] : I had high hopes of making the Olympic team.
• [ count noun ] a person or thing that may help or save someone: their only hope is surgery.
• grounds for believing that something good may happen: he does see some hope for the future.

2 archaic a feeling of trust. our private friendship, upon hope and affiance whereof, I presume to be your petitioner.

Hope is a very important thing that we hold on to live. It may not be important to us when we are living in happiness, but when we are facing a difficulty, an obstacle, hope may be the only thing you can grasp onto that keeps you alive. Like faith, hope is not the easiest thing to hold onto, but the most important, especially in times of despair and darkness.

Hope can be any form, symbol, object or person.

Hope is different from optimism. An optimistic person sees a half-full glass. A hopeful person hopes that the glass be filled full.

Hope is such an important and essential part of life that some people name their children Hope, which is a great name.

Have
Only
Positive
Expectations.

or:

Hold
On,
Pain
Ends.

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work. You don't give up.

There is a song that I learnt in choir two years ago titled Hope is a Hidden Star.  The song goes like this:
Hope is a hidden star, waiting to be found in the night sky.
Miles from the earth below, still it shines for all to see.
Veiled by the light of day, beaming again when night falls.
Hope is a hidden star, shining down for someone, in need.
Clouds may come and cover, the star that shines so bold.
Hope may seem lost, but its light is never gone.
Shining all around us, though we may night see its rays.
Hope will come again to light our way.
Hope is a hidden star, shining down for someone, like me.

I bet the song lyrics relate to the quote by Charles H. Spurgeon:"Hope itself is like a star-not to be found in the sunshine or prosperity and only to be discovered in the night of adversity."

Never, never lose hope. Hope is the light at the end of the tunnel that urges you to strive on. Hope reminds you that things will get better.

Hold on to your hope, and until the next post,
Hopefulpencil.
